Appreciation of lighting art works
Every autumn, Berlin is transformed into a stage for light art, buildings and squares are transformed into stars. Then there’s the beaming face and sparkling eyes. This year is a little more important than usual, and there have been and are challenging times. We all need moments of joy and happiness from which we can draw more strength, and confidence for the future.
The annual Berlin Light Festival is held in Berlin, Germany from October 7th to 16th local time. 35 landmark buildings are illuminated by lights, and 70 light art works show a colorful picture of the city.
Unlike in the past, the 2022 Berlin Light Festival will reduce electricity consumption by 75% compared to previous years.
The theme of this year’s Berlin Light Festival is “Looking into Our Future”. This year Germany is facing the challenge of energy crisis. The organizer hopes that in such a difficult time full of challenges and uncertainties, we can use art to give people strength, not to lose the will to shape a better future, and to use light art to bring joy and respite to everyone. Opportunity.
In addition, the festival of lights has also been criticized by environmentalists, who believe that it is a waste to hold a festival of lights when energy is scarce.

With the help of lights, Turismo in Tenerife creates visual stimuli that instantly evoke emotions and make you want to travel to this beautiful island.
THE CONSCIOUS MACHINE
With the help of complex 3D animation and artificial intelligence, the facade of Charlottenburg Palace takes on a futuristic look. A hypnotic journey into the future, a realm of infinite possibilities. The computer here is not just a tool, but also a creative creator. The show inspires dreams and asks questions: Is the digital revolution, the advent of artificial intelligence, just a natural continuation of evolution? How long will it take to get to the next stage of development, until the emergence of digital consciousness and artificial new personalities?
CHILDREN’S DREAMS FOR THE FUTURE
German children and children who escaped from Ukraine make our hearts shine!

FULGANT CADENCE SERIES
ABSTRACT ART

FLORAL FUTURE
The video display on the tower of Pankow Town Hall is flamboyant, before the cheerfulness of the flowers slowly turns into a rather rigid stage for the architectural structure. Opposite Rathaus Center Pankow makes installation possible
THE WISHING TREE
What are your wishes for the future? The children of the Unter den Linden National Opera Children’s Choir answered this question to the Festival of Lights team. Your thoughts, dreams and fantasies can all be found in the Wishing Tree, which can be admired as a photo of the facade of the magnificent Opera House.
Humboldt University Law School

St. Hedwigs-Kathedrale
Bebelplatz shines with a 180-degree production themed “Vision for our future”. And St Hedwig’s Cathedral is embedded in this ensemble.
EINFACH ZAUBERHAFT
Over the past few years, the historic Nikolaiviertel has proven to be a magnet. And indeed: because the many beautiful patterns and photo spots in the center of Berlin and the charming streets of the Nikolaiviertel make for an incomparable “match”. This year, the uniqueness of Nikolaiviertel will be on display, with its romantic little streets lined with interesting shops, cafés and restaurants, this historic place is “simply magical”.
The corner building with the bold Nikolaiviertel lettering is staged as the “Gateway to Nikolaiviertel”. The static theme is deliberately reminiscent of Diagon Alley in the Harry Potter novels, only that the Nicola Church is at the end of the alley.
GHOSTLY GUESTS
A light art installation brings to life the former residents of the historic downtown. Under the irradiation of ultraviolet rays, the figures bent with iron wire and sprayed with fluorescent paint come to life like ghosts. These translucent figures blend in with their surroundings, and the old town becomes part of the composition. Stylized figures reminiscent of three-dimensional line drawings
MY LIGHT IS YOUR LIGHT
When people are forced to leave their cities, they not only leave behind their homes, belongings, schools, favorite toys, friends and neighbors…they leave behind their skin, organs and memories too. They become radiant silhouettes. They walked, whispering only one thing: My light is your light…”.
Through his installation, artist Alaa Minawi pays homage to refugees. In his interpretation, each person, after fleeing, becomes a radiant shape whose story shines brightly everywhere in the world. Hardship and hope are two aspects that the artist emphasizes equally. Six human figures made from custom neon tubes represent a family that has been on the road for years. Dad, mom, grandfather, an aunt and two kids. Their paths cross those of passers-by.
LIGHTBATTLE
The spectacular Lightbattle III is located directly at the Potsdamer Platz station. The work perceives the Dutch cultural asset bicycle in a new way. Three bikes face each other on three interactive arcs. Sit down and compete against each other! The lights slowly intensify the color of the arches based on how fast everyone is riding
PEONY
Some of the approximately six-meter-high bouquets, consisting of three elegant flowers, were distributed around Potsdamer Platz. During the day, they stretch out their beautifully shaped white petals towards the sun. At night, dynamic lighting effects bring them to life. The magical flowers shimmer with different color nuances, revealing more magnetic light and shadow.
FLORAISON
Bright poppies adorn the west entrance of The Playce shopping centre. They float lightly, a sea of dancing light, welcoming or saying goodbye to people coming and going
SNAIL MEETS CATERPILLAR
What do you think the caterpillar and the snail are discussing? we do not know. But if you listen carefully, maybe you will. In any case, the two impressive works of art, nearly five meters high, provide comfort and enrich the festival at Potsdamer Platz
SCHWANENTANZ
Hans Christian Andersen’s magical fairy tale “The Wild Swan” finally came to life on the artificial lake. A group of artistically designed LED swans form a water ballet of light and sound. Autonomously controlled by GPS, they glide poetically across the inky water, creating a magical atmosphere.
LES LUMINÉOLES
Three Luminéoles, imaginary luminous birds, float poetically in the night, their long and graceful wings glide gently in the dark, dancing with the wind. They offer visitors a unique picture of color and movement. They transform public spaces, transporting viewers with their own imagination into poetic and magical atmospheres
